Cr-Mo or Chrome-Molybedenum is the most basic steel tubeset used on bike frames. Whilst the main frame tubes are butted i.e. thinner in the middle, the stays and forks often aren't which adds weight and tends to deaden the ride. Enjoy it for what it is and if you've got a nicer, lighter bike for summer, then it'll be worth waiting for.
Make mine an Italian, with Campagnolo on the side..

This isn't true. Most bike frames in existence are mild steel. Cro Mo is very much middle range. What puzzles me about this bike is that the common Reynolds Cro Mo double butted tubeset is 501 so how this one is different is a mystery to me.

Incidentally, the forks might be 531 rather than plain but the stays are almost certainly plain. I'm pretty sure Reynolds never made 501 stays.
    Faster than a tent.......
  • yes all reynolds tubing seems to have a number designated to them, but not this one?
