Strava Privacy

I began using Strava a little while ago as a really handy way to track my performance improvements over time but I was always conscious that I was making public a map that shows where I live and am likely to have a nice bike for the taking. I added the exclusion zone thing around my address for 100m and was content that it would be harder for a thief to work out where I lived (but not that hard if they had a half-decent ability at working out a circles' radius!) but I noticed suddenly my privacy settings aren't working at all and the option seems to have changed to only allow 500m exclusion zones. Safer, obviously, but also means that the number 1 segment I ride has the last 200m clipped off and is no longer counted. Now I could have used a different address that would cover my house but not the segment I like if I hadn't happened to live on a dead-end lane that means there are no alternatives.
Am I missing something about the new Strava privacy settings or is there now no option for me to use a privacy zone of something under 250m?
Or is it possible to make rides private and see how you've done on a segment?
Call me paranoid but I've deactivated my account for the time being but will rejoin and re-upload my files if there's a privacy option that allows me to hide the start/end of the ride without hiding that segment close to my home.
Any help you can give me would be appreciated

Can't you just edit the segment to finish 200m from your house and start it a bit earlier?0

Think it's now just a 500m exclusion zone across the board that Strava use now.
Far better for security in my eyes, I guess you'll just have to re-do/edit your segment so that it starts at the new start point set by the new exclusion zone.0 -
Maybe even start recording your ride when you are a safe distance from your house....0

its dead easy -
set this, and its all automatic - you can also choose the radiushttp://veloviewer.com/SigImage.php?a=3370a&r=3&c=5&u=M&g=p&f=abcdefghij&z=a.png

I know there's the automatic feature but as far as I can see the feature has recently changed to a 500m radius or nothing.
"Enter a location below to have it hidden on your activity maps. If your activity starts or ends within a 500m-1km radios of the address, the start and/or end of the ride will be hidden from other users."
If i'm just missing where the option to change that is then a 2nd screenshot pointing it out would be amazing0 -
Normally you'd just set the privacy address as somewhere else so it overlaps your address. However, you being down a cul-de-sac don't have much choice. I think if you weigh up the alternatives i.e. privacy to safeguard your bike or a bit of Strava bagging, the privacy gets the vote.I ride a bike. Doesn't make me green or a tree hugger. I drive a car too.0

Frankly I wouldn't be that bothered about losing the ability to record a segment that close to my house, I'd rather thieves not know where I lived. Also do not set just one privacy area otherwise it's pretty easy to triangulate where you are if you had a few rides starting from your house and going in different directions. I have half a dozen exclusion zones around me centred on different addresses0

That's precisely what I'd done previously when the zone could be set to just 100m but I noticed a couple of days ago that none of those zones were now being applied at all and that my rides now showed as beginning and ending on my own drive.
The particular segment close to home is like my benchmark that I rode when I first started taking an interest in cycling and I love seeing how far I've come so I'm reluctant to forget it.
Manually editing my ride to start and end from a more general location seems the only way forward so far...how frustrating!0
