Hey guys
I want to use the cycle to work scheme at work (41% off a bike cant be bad).
Moving to a house in the local woods and think i want to get into MBing, nothing too exciting just forestry roads/dirt tracks. I can spend around €600/650 or £500 in your earth pounds.
Close by I have a halfords - do people snub halfords generally?
The other brand options are:
Lapierre
Merida
Barracuda
Claud
GT
Haro
Trek
or anything out of haldfords
http://www.garyscycles.com/
http://www.chaindrivencycles.com/
http://www.flanagancycles.com/pages/Home
I know people will say try them out and see what fits best but will i know if i dont know what ill want? and id really like something that doesnt need upgrading and with good components.
thanks in advance

The Voodoo is one of the best bikes for the cash, you get a lot more for the money than most those other brands!
Also consider the Decathlon Rockrider 8.1.0 -

The carrera fury is a good option aswell, I had one previously and it was a good bike.
I dont think you will find a Trek, Lapierre or many other decent bikes at your price point that will compare to the spec of the voodoo or carrera.0 -
thats great thanks guys ill have a look at both and see what rocks my boat0
-
£500 with or without discount? The Boardman Comp is worth looking at from Halfords but priced at £650.0
-
haha £500 without the discount, thats me maxed out £650 is way to much im afraid0
-
Well you can't go wrong with the fury or the voodoo then!0
-
halfords seem to start at 18" on both the carrera and the hoodoo, im 5'7", would 18 be alittle too big? 16 isnt available on the irish website and id say that means its not in the shops
from voodoos website,
Height 5' 3" - 5' 8" IL 30" 33" / 76cm - 84cm 16" - 17"
nothing's ever easy lol0 -
Ask them to order one in.I don't do smileys.
There is no secret ingredient - Kung Fu Panda
London Calling on Facebook
Parktools0 -
they couldnt get 16 in the hoodoo (they couldnt even order it in) so I went for a carrera vulcan and saved myself some money
I tried an 18" carrera fury and it was uncomfortably close when I stood over the bar so went with the 16 in the vulcan which was more comfortable.
hopefully my cheque from work for the c2w scheme comes through quickly
Do people sill use bar ends? I used to have a bike along time ago when I was young and thought they were great0 -
