Replacement bearings for the hopes are slightly more than a whole Deore unit. I run a deore still.

tried most the cheap ones, superstars being the worst chocolate bearings, just want to know if hope would be better bet?

Yes it would, but it's 4/5 times the cost and replacement bearings are more than a whole shimano unit.

I've got more life out of a shimano by forcing grease into it

If its an external BB have you had frame faced some frames are miles out of line. A good bike shop will have the tool and charge about £20 if you take bare frame in.

    ^^This.
Even the cheaper external BBs should last way longer than that.

I have found that forcing waterproof grease into the bearing when new has been making them last longer.
