Will be spending sometime in the West London area in September, I dabble in a bit of wildlife photography so was going to have a trek round Richmond Park, ideally shoot some deer pictures.
Never been before, any advice of the best location to head too.
Thanks in advance.

I drove through there on Saturday a couple of weeks ago, and there was a deer, complete with antlers and everything (no red nose though) having a bite to eat at the side of the road. Massive bu66er he was too. Totally unphased by the traffic and cameras.
I'm guessing that you'll be ok getting photos pretty much everywhere !Science adjusts it’s beliefs based on what’s observed.

Last time I went we saw a few deer right by the path. They're not too scared of people either as long as you don't approach them.1998 Kona Cindercone in singlespeed commute spec

Plenty of 'wild' life in Richmond Park

I was in the park last weekend and saw the big stag posing for photographs close to the road and a herd of deer were blocking the road further on just asking for photos to be taken. I did manage to get within 8 foot of them but felt any closer would have spooked them.I've added a signature to prove it is still possible.0

on a bike you can do the whole the whole park so find the deer where-ever they are. Otherwise you could drive round on the park roads and pick a car-park.Raleigh Eclipse, , Dahon Jetstream XP, Raleigh Banana, Dawes super galaxy, Raleigh Clubman

Not sure where exactly where you'll be staying, but it might be worth making a trip further west to Windsor Great Park. You'll need a bike or be prepared to walk longer distances, as no cars are allowed in the park without permits. However, I tend to see much larger groups of deer in Windsor, and there are more open spaces so it tends to look a bit more of a natural habitat (IMHO). And much less traffic, of course.
As for RP, I'd agree with general opinion - you'll find deer all over the place.0 -
Loads of deer in Bushey Park, too which is only a short distance from Richmond Park. There is also Home Park across the road from Bushey, behind Hampton court Palace, which also has deer.0

The deer (especially in Windsor Great Park) seem fairly docile but watch out for the Hinds if they have young with them as they can go on the offensive and chase anything they think is too close.

Thanks for the replies, I'm down in London Town for a while, so will no doubt be able to check out Richmond, Bushey and Great Windsor parks.
Will be shooting with my Canon 7D with a 100-400 telephoto zoom, so I can easily keep my distance should I need too.0
