I have a Merida road race I bought off someone second hand a few years ago. It was £600 new, not sure what sort of budget you're looking at.

It has a Sora groupset which has needed the odd repair to brakes and levers and the wheels weren't great so have been replaced (but it was a cheap bike). Overall it's a nice bike and I'm pleased with it and it's still going strong.

They had some nice looking mountain bikes on display when they sponsored the MTB marathons, but £7000 was a bit out of my budget

Merida own and make Specialised so the pedigree is reasonable.

They look to be good entry level bikes.

If 49% is small then yes.

Merida is the world's second biggest bike manufacture. Giant is the biggest.

Spoilt for choice for excellent cycle shops around our area Tony. There's at least 6 major shops close by that offer a great range of bikes. Shop around as you're spoilt for choice really.

I love mine, and would try to upgrade to another Merida given the chance.

I think they own Boardman bikes too
