Hi all

Mines knackered, the remote lever has completely snapped off and some of it it stuck in the body of the remote refusing to budge so aa new one is reluctantly required.

Current Reverb is a right hand 2012 model and I had the remote situated as intended on the handlebars. I've seen other people house them underneath the bars and am thinking of doing this myself to pretect the fragile remote.

Does anyone know where I can get a remote from and can confirm if I need to get a left hand remote to allow me to house it under the bars (I think so but need it confirming please  ). Also any ideas whats a good price?

Cheers

Lee

yes you would need a left hand one to fit underneath the bars on the right. however i would check first with your old broken one that it will fit and not foul on anything. I bought a left hand one with the intention of doing that that, but as i run my brakes in board of my shifters, the remote fouls on them so have had to run it above the bar.

my mate runs his under the bar but the wrong way round (the lever pointing forward) so uses his index finger to work it. less fouling issues and he swears by it.

you can by a replacement lever but only seen them as the full hose kit and they're about £80. there's a few on ebay, or most likely will have to get your lbs to do a special order from sram (i've got a horrible feeling the list price is over £100)

You'll need a left hand mount to have it under the bars on the right yes. From memory of an MBR workshop feature, I have a feeling a new remote, with new hose etc is £170. My advise would be to stick it on ebay for spares or repairs and get a new one from where ever you can find one cheapest as it will work out cheaper. Merlin have them for £200 with an extra 10% off, think thats the cheapest I've found in this country, ze germans might be cheaper though.

You can buy a service kit for about £40.00 but the chances are the remotes internal bore will have been scored by the broken lever and may leak fluid.

A new remote lever will set you back £100.00   or so.

I have to say with spares costing so much I'm tempted to just bin mine, only used it 3 times and there's not long left on the warranty

£77.00 delivered from here, I might bite the bullet.

Thanks for the replies chaps, agree the parts prices are ridiculous! Got a weekend in Wales next weekend, if I have any more trouble with the blasted thing after this time it's getting binned, I managed for years without a dropped post, I'll manage again!

There goes another £100 lol, daren't tell the wife
