Morning all,
after a nice lil ride last night i found my shoulders were murdering me from the weight of the water in trhe bag, have noticed over quite a few rides lately so thinking maybe time for a waist based hydro bag, i know the wingnuts were like this but were a little pricey, so throwing it out there for suggestions please!!!!

thanks muchly in advance,
Timmo.

    This ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
If it hurts your shoulders I can't see it being very comfortable hanging off your hips.

I think it's all that cake your carrying in the backpack that isn't helping Tim!
What size hydration pack are you using, I picked up a tesco 1.5L jobbie and never really notice it. £13 and they do them in your localish tesco (the big one in Redruth/Pool)
  • Hahah! All the cakes in my belly fella!!
Current is a camelbak blowfish, 3L bladder but normally 1l- 1 1/2L as I use a bottle for energy drink, bag carries a few bars and gels, saddle bag with usual trail bits in and the bladder, not been an issue until past 6 months,

One thing that will contribute is I have M.E. And the muscle pain is more obvious for me, just thinking if the weights lower it won't have so much strain on the shoulders?? That or may put the saddle bag back on and get another bottle cage instead of the bag?? - don't ride for too long as results in me not being avle to get out of bed the next day if I doo!!

I'm going to have to use the obligatory "man the F up" response.
There's no way that you're going to be comfortable carrying such weight on your waist and hips, that it would cause shoulder discomfort.
Not only that, but I can only imagine how uncomfortable carrying any bulky thing on your hips would be when riding.

Yeah I would have thought the same about the weight and a smaller lighter backpack might help as well. But the extra bottle/saddle bag seems like a good idea and then this gives you the options of getting more brightly coloured bolts for an extra cage

I can't imagine a waist thing being that comfortable though.

Or best option, get others to carry your backpack, make it out your doing them a favour by helping them train harder.
  • Hahha! My bottle cage bolts Are already pimped!! ;-)

Sounds like your carrying too much water! Drink more and your bag will weigh less!

Or drink 2 pints of water before you go anywhere.
