Really simple one this and of course it may be I am chasing a unicorn here but was wondering aabout any advice to do with making the rubber hoods on sram brifetrs fit well after removing them to regrese the double tap mechs and then put them back on...
I had heard some shops use hair dryers? Any comments or advice?

once they're on, you need to squish them around so that the internal 'studs' locate in the notches in the shfter housings
once this is done, you can repeat the squishing on any areas that are not quite right until the rest of the hood is neat - they are so grippy that unless you do this the hoods will just sit in the wrong position
technique is to wrap your hand around the hood, hold tight and then drag the whole thing around a bit, it takes a bit of practice, for the tops at the front, pinch the sides and drag down
i usually fit them cold, but it's a bit easier if you dunk the hoods in hot water for a few minutes and then wipe dry and fit them quickmy bike - faster than god's and twice as shiny0 -
thanks to all of you for your advice
