I saw this in a bike shop today. It's unbelievably gorgeous, but is it any good?

It is stunning, one of the best looking fgss on the market
I think they had one in Camden cycle surgery on my last trip up that big smoke. I did stop and stare for a moment whilst thinking about a sunny sunday ride to the pub.....
Though the eyelets on the fork Seem out of place.AKA Captain Blackbeard

Edit. Has that just got interrupter levers like the Coopers? Not good that. Form WAY over function. Job one would be swapping out for hoods or bullhorns with tri levers. WTF do they do this? No brakes available when in the drops at full chat and poor ones when on the tops and pootling? Stoopid IMO.FCN 5 belt driven fixie for city bits

Not sure it's actually meant to be ridden.0

It's a beautiful frame with horrible bars. Easily fixed.

No, there's at least two of us.0 -
Is it just the geometry, or is that a rather small frame?1985 Mercian King of Mercia - work in progress (Hah! Who am I kidding?)

Yeah, weirdo.0 -
Unless you're going to enter retro style track events I just don't see the point. It's going to be an uncomfortable bike, and as it's a reproduction, it's not that sexy.0

those bartop brake levers are fine if you ride fixed, I have one on my fg commuter on the front, never had any issues myself, I can see why they would be a nightmare for freewheel tho
I can't understand why people persist with quill stems, that one looks really short...."I get paid to make other people suffer on my wheel, how good is that"

The frame looks alright, but doesn't stand out as anything special compared to loads of other retro-style frames. Bars look naff and I don't understand why you would pair deep-section rims with a retro-style frame. Would look cool with better bars and a pair of handbuilts using Open Pro's.

im still wondering what colour to do my vintage frame

Because they don't look like bits of scaffolding is why. That one is a bit short, but I have a lovely 130mm 3TTT stem for when I finally get round to building up the Mercian.1985 Mercian King of Mercia - work in progress (Hah! Who am I kidding?)
