Creaking noise

Hello,

Forgive me if this has already been covered. But today I went on the bike and heard some creaking noise on the right pedal where it joins with the bike. I noticed it when I was putting in a lot more effort to get up a hill and there was some creaking noise. However, on inspection everything seems very securely fitted on, I still managed to get up to quite a decent pace even with a creaking noise (but only when I was trying to go faster). When I just maintained my speed there was no noise.

Should I be worried about anything even though every thing is tightly fitted on. It had only been in the LBS on Saturday for an adjustment to certain things after I had a bike fitting done at Paul hewitts in leyland. So I would imagine everything is how it should be....right?

  • Might be your bottom bracket? I had the same problem and it was my bottom bracket that needed a re grease. Pop it back to Hewitts if you're concerned.
    Cube Acid 2011 MTB
Boardman Road Team....... yes i have had the BB re-greased :-)
  • You may get a better response if you post this on Workshop - but in the meantime I would suggest you remove the pedal from the crank apply some copper slip to the threads and re attach it making sure it is tight (if in doubt how to [not sure how expert you are] consult either Sheldon Brown or Park Tool's web site for workshop tips. Also check it wasn't your right cleat that was creaking - clean and lube it as required for the model cleat you have.
