Rear hub noise.

I've just bought some Campagnolo wheels. One thing I've noticed is the clicking from the rear hub when free wheeling. I've never heard a clicking like it. It's like a swarm of angry bees that are chasing after me (I don't cycle that fast).

Is this normal? I read elsewhere that the joke is that Tullio Campagnolo made it mandatory becasue he wanted to remind riders to keep pedaling at all times.

Yes, it's normal and many people class it as the sign of a quality hub that it clicks when freewheeling.

Strange as it is I think this is true - the more expensive the hub the louder the click. Why?

Something to do with the pawls (don't ask me more than that!). My Pro Lites were silent for a couple of hundred miles and I hated it but then they started making a lovely hum.
