Thoughts and impressions of Megavalanche 2012

Well, I got back from the 2012 Mega a couple of weeks ago having enjoyed myself thouroughly. I improved on last years time and managed to get into the mega amatures race on the second row of the mass start (more scary than the race!!!)
It was great to see some of the same faces as last year and have our own mini races. My only gripe was the lift service after the qualifiers.
I know there was quite a few members of this forum going.......How did you all get on? What did you think of it all?

I wasn't there for the race but I did the route last week - and I have to say it was actually a lot harder than I was expecting it to be! It would be a ruddy nightmare surrounded by other like-minded hooligans!!
Did the race go all the way down to Allemont? If not - where did it finish?0 -
The qualifyer is harder than the race for technicality and jockeying for position. Most of the technical places are slowed up by bottlenecks and other riders walking, which make it easier.
The race finishes in Allemont.
Give it a go next year??0 -
No can do, I teach. We're not allowed to take holidays
I thought it would be impossible to overtake on the descents, it's all just tight singletrack! There's a few climbs where you could do it... but everyone would be waiting for that.
And I can't for the life of me figure out how Remi got into Allemont in under 50mins... utter mental. It took me all afternoon!0 -
Just watched this weeks "cycle show"...........and yes it was absolute shite!!!!!!!0
