I,m looking at buying an exposure front light for commuting and night training, is the toro the right model for road use or is the Race model better suited?

I've used a Toro MkII for a year and cannot recommend it highly enough. The high beam is good enough for downhills at speed on rural unlit roads even on a wet road (this makes a massive negative difference to reflected light) and the switch for mid or lowbeam on the back of the light works fine even with gloves, for when you come across oncoming cars. So, no need for the remote switch IMHO.
The light spread is wide with a very bright centre to the flood that throws a long way - I angle mine to hit the centre spot about 3-4m ahead of me. That's metres not miles! Real world riding, it's properly like having a car headlamp.
Big outlay, but well worth it. Two examples to illustrate this:
1. My amber light was coming on too early on full beam (45 minutes, not 90), so I figured the light maybe had a fault. 11 months old, sent it back to Exposure. Five days later they'd tested it, fixed it and returned it, replacing the charger which was not charging it fully despite the light indicating it was.
2. I failed to clip it on properly one night (I'd fixed my new Garmin a bit too close to it) and the whole light came off at about 30mph going downhill. It bounced down the road, gaining some big scars in the turned aluminium body, while the fullbeam spun round like a lighthouse. I picked it up, still switched on, reclipped it and carried on the ride. Incidentally the bracket arrangement is an engineering masterpiece that will not come off when properly clipped on, period.
I can hear all of the arguments for the Magicshine Ebay "bargains" and the like, but not one of these lower-cost alternatives gives me the peace of mind that the Toro does (see above), nor has the beautiful simplicity of its design and completely reliable, dependable performance.
I have no connection to Exposure other than being a very impressed and happy customer.0 -
Thanks, i thought i'd get one before the prices go up. I use a hope vision 2 for every day commuting and would like something equal in quality and reliability for some winter training0
