A boardman comp is also worth a look. Decent fork on it, good gearing, and light.
At your pricepoint most of the money is in the frame and not the spec when looking at big branded bikes.0 -
IMO, yes. The air fork is easier to adjust, X5 shifters/mech work well, and again, its light!0
