Wharncliffe woods

A day late but......
Muddy at the minute and apart from the (very short (1km-sh))XC route it's not sign posted at all.Non of the DHs are signed and all the best XC stuff is just local knowledge.
Best advice?
Go with someone who's been/knows where they're going or go on a Sunday when it'll be full of DH's etc.You could end up riding miles of fire-road and riding past all the good stuff.A lot of stuff is across the road in Greno woods(Peatys drop/Steel city DH etc).
I live 10 mins away and have been going in there for the best part of 15 years and am still being shown new stuff. So many people turn up expecting it to be like a trail-centre and leave disappointed :?0 -
That doesn't bode well, none of us have been before! Any pointers as which direction to head in?
Would you recommend greno woods instead then?0 -
Greno woods isn't signed either!
Head for the main(top)car park just outside Grenoside village. The XC bit is signed(with red markers)from there but it's a mire and as I said very short
Greno woods is across from the main CP.
You could just go in a follow your nose or hope to bump into someone who knows their way around but the chances are you'll miss out on all the good stuff :roll:0 -
I'm going up to Sheffield on the 17th for the wkend, one of my mate's lives up there so he should know some of the best bits. Do you ever bump into Steve Peat? My mate has done a couple of times________________
