£650. Which Bike?

Hi All,

I am doing this on behalf of a mate. He has 650£ (give or take) and wants a XC/Trail Hard Tail. He is looking at the Cube Attention right now (i thought maybe a ZR Team 6.0). He will be doing some trails and a bit of commuting. Nothing crazy! Should he pay more attention to the frame so he can upgrade down the line or get the best fork for his money?

Any thoughts would be much appreciated.

If he can stretch his budget by £150 to £800, this is unbeatable spec (for the money) and a good frame (even has internally routed cables), you won't find a better spec brand new; comes with a Reba RL fork (£250ish):

Won't need to upgrade the forks or frame on that bike, the wheels and other bits maybe, but only "needs" upgrading to shed some weight.

neither of those come anywhere close to the ZR Team 6, why pay more for less ? if your only looking for something from a local (uk) shop the boardman is hard to beat
