2001 Trek 1200

I'm brand new to biking so I wanted some opinions. I'm not sure how much I will like the sport so I was trying to stick to the sub $500 range and get something new. I found the following bike on CL for $450, I offered the guy $400 and was going to get it tomorrow. I was wondering everyone's thoughts and if I'm getting a good deal.

    It's hard to say without knowing the spec such as groupset and wheels. Markets also differ by country. In the UK on EBay you see these Treks of that age go for anywhere between £150 to £350 again dependant on spec and condition.

    If its in good condition, fits you and you like it then it will be a good way into road cycling.
