The only thing certain about about clipless mishaps is it will always happen at the worst possible time.

  • I also had a spd moment the over day. Early morning approaching a junction not really expecting any traffic so early........ but there was a car approaching. Unclipped my left foot and fell to the right. ended up lying on my back in middle of road. Young lad in the car was laughing his head off. : )

Oh yes, we've all been there and done that! Perhaps they should give marks for artistic impression

A couple of months back,I was riding some local lanes, real proper rural single track lanes.
I was coming up to a T junction(and I was the one who had to stop) and I could see a car about 200 yards away,I was also about the same distance from the junction.
I thought no bother,I'll just slow up and the car will go by before I get there,no need to even unclip.
So,I slows down, the car slows down,I slow down a bit more, car does the same.
All the while the junction is getting closer and closer.
With about 10 yards to go,I think ok time to unclip,it looks like I'm stopping for the car.
Goes to unclip, totally stuck, blind panic then sets in :D ,didn't even think to unclip the other foot.
The car stops in front of the junction and he says out the window " you have a lovely day for it",and the end of his sentence coincided beautifully with me just toppling sideways and sprawling out on the tarmac :D
He was good enough to get out and help me up though, even though I would have preferred him to just drive off and leave me staring at the ground lol.

nearly fell over on my drive today in front of the neighbour after coming him after a ride.

same thing - blind panic and legs flapping all over and luckily the foot i wasn't trying to get out released and i managed to stay upright!

I'm going to have to ditch these pedals and MTB shoes for some proper road ones.

never had a problem with my small MTB double sided spd's but these flat ones are a nightmare to unclip.

I think it's a right of passage. All road cyclists, even Tour de France gods, have fallen over at a stand still at some point.

I once done it getting on my bike in front of a crowd, a man and woman walked straight past as I was laying on the ground with the bike on top of me and a cut knee, they didn't even stop to ask if I was okay

Last time I came off, I unclipped the right foot whilst still moving. Came to a stop. Then in slow motion felt the bike learn the other way to the left... once you feel it going over there's no stopping it. First thing I did was brush my self off as nothing happened and have a quick look around to make sure nobody saw it.

As long as the bike's okay :-)
