OK everyone.

Olympics, expensive thing to host for sure but don't consider the cost, ignore potential benefits etc to the country, just rate the viewing experience and overall appearance of the thing so far.

From what I have watched it has all looked pretty damn good, opening ceremony was not my thing but seemed flawless and well correographed (aside from the bizarre instance of the performer who came out with the Indian team  ), all the stadiums (stadia?) have looked fantastic - I saw the crowds for the swimming and that is some kinda monster stand they have there, all of the actual events have been good to watch and I have enjoyed loads of what I have seen.

I give it a 9.73. Cant imagine what could be improved without weather control devices.

Really impressed with GB's ability to put on a show. Makes me proud to be british and almost wish I was in London to join in a bit more. Almost.

Have enjoyed watching it all. Even the sports that wouldnt ordinarily interest me.
I think everyone involved with organising it has done a fantastic job. And the team GB athletes have hopefully inspired a nation as to what we can achieve if we put our minds to it!

I was a cynic, but I've been sucked right in to my surprise.
Lots of the events are quite short, so there's a sudden burst of excitement, then it's over, and something else to watch for a while.
    I'm enjoying it.
  • ^ This. I didn't think I'd be that bothered, but I like how quick everything is, 5 minutes here, change channel, 5 minutes there.
Missed the opening ceremony, but didn't really have any interest in it anyway. I've been watching the sports I have interest in - Judo, Badminton, Rowing, Cycling etc. Then watching Jessica Ennis and Mo Farrah win was amazing to watch.

I think we're doing a damn good job, but there have been some major f*ckups. Have you heard about the fencing? Someone that should have competed for gold went home with nothing, because a 15 year old volunteer didn't start the clock when there was only 1 second left to go

I turned on when I woke up and some fit birds in bikinis were cycling past Buck House.

before it all began i was expecting it to be webbo.

    however,

I have loved everything about it.

the opening ceremony was superb, i properly enjoyed it. the coverage has been bang on. the GB athletes have been superb and from what i have heard, even the admin and running of the venues has been really efficient.
  • I think its been good.. Very patriotic of course.
mainly just been watching the athletics and swimming, there's been some edge of the seat stuff!!
there are a lot of 'sports', such as prancing on horses, that I really couldn't give a flying fluck about though!
beach volleyball has its place, but apart from the bikinis it really is bloody boring!

I enjoyed the gymnastics too.. Some mind blowing skill and control!

Just shows what can be achieved by being a bit bloody positive about something. Why wouldnt we put on a fantastic olympics, all the doom and gloom stories from the run up have disappeared now, the papers are supporting our competitors and not knocking them down before they've even had a chance to try (like what happens with football, you know, maybe if there was a bit of positivity about it we might do a bit better) and people are supporting our olympians for just trying their damn hardest.

I've been to two footy matches in Cardiff, the way they have been organised, and the town, the station the security have been arranged has been top notch.

It has been truly inspirational and I hope it does give the uninspired and unmotivated a bit of a kick up the butt and show them there are things that they can do which dont cost a fortune. You dont need the latest computer to go for a run or a swim, get up, get out, find something you enjoy doing and do it, do it with people, make friends, meet people.

    Seriously proud

I commented to a friend the other day that I had the tele on to watch the olympics and the only channels I could see were showing dressage and mens beach volleyball - that was a poor day but I flicked between them a bit anyway and I have to say (aside from the enormously irritating plum up her arse commentator) I was amazed watching the dressage at what you can apparently make a horse do.

The mens beach volleyball was pretty pointless (although as a sport its quick and fast paced which is all you can ask) but it validates the existence of womens volleyball so it has its place!

The fencing cock up someone alluded to - I personally think if you stand in the way of someone with a sword and dont defend yourself until someone blows the buzzer to tell you it is safe not to do so you have no right to complain if someone stabs you.

Watched highlights of Team GB's footie loss to S Korea - is it me or was that one shockingly bad performance?

Velodrome - awesome! Plus my bro did some design work on the lighting for the velodrome so kudos to him (he also had to climb to the top of the pointy bits on the main stadium to assist in aligning the lighting - he was not keen on the height!

Haven't had the chance to watch as much as would like. Found myself laughing at people stumbling when landing from the vault thing but then though if that was me there'd just be a dull thud as I slammed into the damn thing so far play to them. The bit of women's beach volleyball that I saw was obviously filmed by men as we had a nice close up everytime they adjusted their pants. Other than that the traffic for st James park has been ok as I haven't got caught up on it while going to and from the hospital while they've had matches on so I guess organisation there has been good, either that or loads of empty seats. I'm not bothered that I haven't got to any of the venues, as a bespecticaled cnut I get a better view with my nose on the telly. That and there's just some football up here which I couldn't give a toss about.
I love horses, best of all the animals. I love horses, they're my friends.

  • It's great - I've had the full range of emotions. Unbelievable happy for Jessica Ennis - man she dealt with pressure. Desperately sad for Jessica Varnish and the rowing guys who got pipped on the line. The girls who won the rowing were priceless 'We're going to be on a stamp tomorrow'

There's a good amount of people dressing for the occasion on the commute in and the traffic I've seen isn't too bad.

Oh and we lost a penalty shoot out.

I was at the rowing yesterday, and the 2 golds and a silver did make up for the pissing rain we had for good chunks of the morning. Still, it was all good, and the only complaint I could level at them was the extortionate catering prices. Other than that everything was amazingly well organised.

There was 1 second left on the clock, and she would have gone through. All she had to do (for 1 second) was run backwards to avoid being hit. However, the clock didn't start when it should, so 1 second turned into about 4 seconds, and she got hit.
They appealed, but it wasn't allowed. The Olympic Committee realised later that there was a bit of unfairness about it, so they offered her a 'consollation medal', which she declined. It was a bit of a poor affair really, and hasn't been thrown about the media due to all the good things that are happening.

Hated the build-up, the opening ceremony left me totally numb.

But as soon as the wheels got in motion in terms of actual sport, i was soon hooked. Fantastic week for British sport.

One thing though. Horrific over use of the word 'Pride'. What reason have any of us got to be proud of each of the athletes? They haven't done it for us, they have done it for themselves! So, i'm not proud, i am simply delighted for them.

I think the 'lympics has been superb so far. Glad to see us doing well for once and the whole spectacle has been brilliant to watch. The support from the crowds for the Brits has been incredible.
