Know if it'll take a rack, too? Been looking for a decent bike for getting round town on. The Triban looks like overkill for 5m-ish spins to work, shops etc. but the price of vintage and 2nd hand road bikes seems to have gone up round here, so £300 for a bike that won't need repairing when I get it is starting to look good value...0 -
I have a colleague in work who is itching to get into cycling , he is always commenting on my caad8 105 and I told him all about the triban 3. He went to see one in decathlon and could not believe what was on offer for £299 and he is totally sold on one. The triban 3 is true value for money and a step into road cycling, for winter 2014 I will be buying one for winter usage as you could throw those bikes against a wall and they just keep on going.2012 Cannondale CAAD 8 1050

If I rode with a club I'd ride it and not give a single f*ck if some sad, pimple faced little arsepipe sneered at me for it.0

I figure that if I do a year on my Triban and spend time learning as much roadcraft as I can that when I do switch to something slighty more upmarket the hills will feel like mere speedbumps.
From experience it still goes uphill and downhill as fast as many of the other "posh" bikes that I have been out on group rides with...tends to be down to the rider when you are an enthiusiastic cycist rather than a Pro. Would buy one again in a heartbeat.Muddy Fox Hardtail Circa 1998

A box of bits that will make a fine Harry Hall when I get round to it.

I can confirm my T3 has got a rack on it - fitted with no problems. I have got some cruds on there, but I am fairly certain you could fit guards with proper fittings as well as the rack at the same time.0 -
Thanks cruds would prob do me fineGiant Anthem X3 20130

Are you due in London any time soon? I do enjoy a good blow and I'd like to feed your addiction. I'm not a pro; I hope that doesn't matter.Ben

Snigger, I'm so childish
And decathlon don't advertise, ever, they don't give out test bikes as they say this will add more to the retail price, makes sense I reckon. I was actually waiting for my size to come in stock to buy one but never happened. Shame the only choice is red (I'm not fast enough to have a red bike, yet)0 -
It annoys me that they do the Triban 3 in white which I'd prefer colour wise, but it's not the same bike! It doesn't have carbon forks.......Giant Anthem X3 20130
