Colnago ace or Scott cr1? Thoughts

Looking at a 2013 cr1 cheap... But last years colnago ace are currently going for a similar price.

Both 105 - ridden the 2012 cr1 and very comfortable ride.

Can't get a demo on the colnago though - rode an arte 2.0 and wasn't too impressed but obviously not full carbon.

Not going to be racing and only 30 miles stuff really

Thoughts please

Can't believe you didn't like the Arte! Once dialled in fit wise colnago bikes are the best handling things out there. Regret selling mine.

I got a CR1 lastautumn in the sales, I only tried thr Scott on a test ride, bought it there and then, fabulous bike.... Get it.
  • I was gutted to be honest that the scott rode much better (bearing in mind the last proper bike I had was a 753 Harry hall over 20 years ago!)

As stated I can't find a colnago ace demo (rode arte but obviously going to be a fair but different)

Cr1 seems to tick the right boxes (especially with the new comp going back to 105 / syncros kit)

Anyone rode a cr1 and an ace? Both seem to (on paper) be very similar

Because the dood wants the Colnago to be as good as the Scott, he knows it's not but still wants it, its a Colnago, its a Colnago he keeps saying to himself.
We've all posted threads when we know the answer but just want the forum collective to tell us what we want to here.

That is the problem - ride man not read.

As for the know it all bit ...I know what I want and like and that is all that matters. Besides if you do not want people to know anything why ask the questions?

You come on here and within 2 weeks and only your 3rd post you decide that someone is a know it all - buy the colnago it will suit you.

When you ask a sensible question that requires a definitive answer and not one that is purely reliant on opinion then you may get proper answers.

  • Sensible question on a road bike buying Section?

What side of bed did you get out if this morning? Do you always make people feel so welcome with their first few posts?

Whist adding nothing to the debate you have successfully proved something to me. Cheers. If you have nothing to add why O why bother?

On the contrary - I am very interested to know why someone would buy a bike they have never ridden but is similar to one they have and did not like, over one they had ridden and did like - BUT STILL DID NOT BUY IT!!!

Should have got the Scott and put Colnago stickers on it if the name was all that mattered to you.

I have added you to my ignore list.

  • Shame I'm now on an ignore list.

Anyhow I managed a test ride and it rode very similar to the Scott but £200 cheaper and 105 instead of tiagra

Also tried a caad 8 to see how fantastic they were. It wasn't.

So there we go hope my experience helps.

People only got wound up and you said you loved the Scott but you rode a Colnago and hated it but wanted someone else to tell you to get the Colnago. We can't change your mind, everyone likes different things.
