whats the best way to judge how high your saddle should be and should it be level of point down. Im a complete and utter newb :shock:

Saddle should be level. Height set to 109% of inside leg measurement, that's a good start point, or set it so that with the heel on the pedal at its lowest point the leg is fully extended.0

Saddle fore/aft adjustment is just as important. Google KOPS (knee over pedal spindle) and you'll find lots of info. Not perfect but a good place to start from.http://www.strathspey.co.uk - Quality Binoculars at a Sensible Price.

It's not just saddle height, you should get all of the bike fitted to you.
