Hi there,
i have a pair of Maura Wotans with the Magura 20mm maxle, although for some reason it is incredibly stiff to tighten up so much so that i need a pair of grips to tighten it fully. Obviously this is going to bugger it up eventually.
I was wondering if the Rockshox 20mm maxle will fit on these forks.
The Rockshox maxles are about £45 to buy whereas the Magura one is about £65!
Any help will be much appreciated!

Nope.
Maxel is an RS product not a Magura one. Magura have not paid RS any money to use it so they have there own design.
Axel from Marz or Fox will not fit either."Do not follow where the path may lead, Go instead where there is no path, and Leave a Trail."

Depends a bit on what year, but Magura did license RS's Maxle for their forks. My Wotan has the older, non-360, non-light version. You have to make sure you get the right version: a 360 sort of fits but won't tighten properly.

As the coffee has kicked in."Do not follow where the path may lead, Go instead where there is no path, and Leave a Trail."
