Hi,

I'll try to explain as best as I can.

I want to buy a Blackspire-Stinger-E-Type-Chain-Tensioner
(http://www.blackspire.com/qs/product/83/5947/320894/0/0) and need a front mech to fit!

I have 2x10 set up 22t and 36t and a bash ring for max teeth 36.

Basically I want to buy a front mech to fit and mount to the holes on the Blackspire-Stinger-E-Type-Chain-Tensioner, must be top pull or dual pull, I see the SRAM XO e-type direct front is max 36t
(http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Mode ... elID=55242) Spec3 - 36T - Top Pull, so ideal but as per the decription on blackspires website it must be a shimano FD-M970-E or FD-M770-E. Is this due to mounting it on the holes on the tensioner? Or will the Sram XO one fit?

BUT ANY HELP - I want a 2 x 10 front mech and surely dont need one that has 42t capacity? Surely a max 36t is what I want?

Any help please.....................im getting in a right mess  haha

Cheers

The Spec3 X0 has mounting holes that are offset i.e. one is closer to the mech cage than the other. I guess whether or not you need them to be offset or inline would make the decision for you. You need to try and find out if the stinger requires the offset holes or not.

A 36t mech would be ideal but i cant imagine a 42t one cause a problem. I run a 3x9 mech on my 2x9 drivetrain which has a 44t max but it works fine for my 36t outer ring, I just have the limit screw further in.

Any front mech that bolts on to the stinger will be fine. Cog size has very little to do with anything as long as you are not using a road ring with a MTB mech.

    Or that X0 with a 48t ring.
