Hi all,
Looking at getting away to France for a quick ride - essentially London to Paris.

How is easy is the Avenue Verte to navigate from Dieppe to Paris (or as close as you can get)?

Is it well signposted and easy to follow -Ii know some of the trails here in the UK can leave you guessing at intersections etc due to a lack of good signage and dont wish to get lost in the middle of France! (I will have a garmin with me though).

Also, is the Ave.Verte ok for roadbikes on 23mm tyres? Have read a great deal of it is paved.

Thanks for any advice..

Nick

    A quick google (using google.fr) came up with:

    http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/magazine-11448829 (includes a link to a gpx file). the BBC reporter did the route with 23mm tyres;

    http://avenuevertelondonparis.com/ (seems to be mainly in French but Google Translate should help. Roadbooks and pictures and lots of info;

    www.seinemaritime.net/fr/medias/File/.. ... -verte.pdf a 14Mb pdf download (of a guidebook presumably). Don't know if there's an English version.
  • I did Paris - Dieppe last week, I made a route that didn't follow Avenue Verte exactly as it goes a very round about route - too much for me to do in a day and still make the 5pm ferry. I still rode a fair bit of it.

    It's very well sign posted but if you follow those it takes you on some gravelly dirt tracks and some parts were uphill on grass, bit of a nightmare on a road bike. Very stoney and bumpy in places made very slow going.

    I ended up ditching Avenue Verte and just following road signs for Rue de Dieppe (The D915 I think) and riding on the road, they were quiet and still had good scenery.

    Google maps on my phone was a life saver, it's worth having something like that if you end up on a track you don't like the look of.
