Decent Budget Fork with Lockout....

Evening Guys,
Just after a bit of advice on a set of forks, currently running an old (2003) set of Marz MX Comp Air Bombers on my retro Proflex, these are fine when I get offroad, however I still have to do a fair bit of road riding to get into the greenery and when up on the pedals I'm just bouncing along all over the place, so would like to upgrade to a more modern fork that has lockout......
Not looking to spend fortunes but at the same time would like something that's capable when needed....
Cheers
Paul

Really does depend on your budget - what can you spend? Also do you run V brakes?0

Rather not say budget as it'll be whatever needs be for the right forks etc....
Hope M4 disc on the front with 180mm rotor......0 -
For £50 you can get a Suntour XCR with lockout, or for £1000 a Fox FIT RLC or SID World Cup.
In the middle, and a good buy is the Rockshox Reba RL or SID RL for around £3-400, the latter being a little lighter. Both are highly adjustable, robust forks.0 -
Cheers Super.....
Had already looked at the Reba RL will give the SID RL a look now.....
Nice that both those choices are adjustable as the old Marz's on mine apparently have rebound adjustment but am told it's altered internally and too be honest I've never bothered looking into it, I like to ride more than fettle, so something with decent external adjustability would be very welcome.....0 -
Yeah, need a long 5mm allen key to adjust!
This is a bargain if want to save even more:

Argh, just thought.... my Hope M4's are IS mount, so I assume those choices are unsuitable ?0

You'd need an adaptor of some sort - IS caliper to PM fork for 180mm. Superstar do one for a fiver.0

Sound,,,, will give the Reba's and SID's a good look, many thanks !!!0

Rock Shox Sektors are retailing for about £200 online, they have lock out, you can also fit the remote lockout switch.Blood, Sweat and 21 Gears...wait...no 27....30...arse 2x10?
Specialized Hardrock, 1997 Marin Nail Trail - current
Giant Glory Merlin Malt 2 Big Hit Expert Marin B-17 Marin Nail Trail Diamondback Topanga - Gone but not forgotten0 -
Sektor is a 120-150mm fork though, and a lot heavier - if got a MX Comp, no need for a Sektor!0
-
Bit at the cheaper end, I've heard good things about manitou drakes and arent the latest batch of x fusion forks pretty good?0

Cheers guys,
All suggestions welcome....0 -

What I'm saying is if he has a MX Comp, which was a fairly light XC fork, then a Reba would be a better bet. The Sektor is good at what it does, but uses heavier parts, though is sturdier.0
