    May I draw my learned friend to my earlier statement,

    "pootling along a bridle path trying to avoid the mud",

    the aforesaid mud was of the low lying sort, acting in collusion with the already cited bough, to effect my harm.

    so in effect you were looking down and not ahead, this is where helmets restrict peripheral vision, but no harm done as the helmet took the brunt of the impact, hope you buy a new one asap, as impact reduces their effectiveness greatly,
