Im thinking of jogging to work instead of riding. My commute is only 3 miles each way. Does anyone else jog to work?

We have showers etc so that wont be a problem. Im just worried about running with a backpack on?

  • Bring a change of clothes for a couple of days and leave back back in your work and then bring it home at end of the week, When I cycle in i leave shorts and gear in my locker and change when I get in after my cycle, definitely run in i'd love t be able to run in but its too far for me 20 miles round trip planning some day to do it lol

wouldn't mind as well, but it's on a dangerous A road with no footpath.

I sometimes jog in. It's 6 miles each way... I used to do both ways but then I got an injury - a stress fracture in my shin and if I run too much it comes back which is annoying. The doc said that because I had been running to and from work once or twice a week with a rucksack of stuff than the pounding on concrete and the extra weight of the rucksack had put too much strain on my bones! I still run in occasionally but I make sure that I take everything I need for that day in with me on the bike the day before so that I can simply run with my house keys a little cash and a credit card...

I'd run, but my work is 12 miles away.

A colleague usually cycles his 6 miles to work, but occasionally he leaves the bike at home and runs in. We have showers and good locker facilities.

There's a Gregg's (pasty shop) employee who runs 17 miles to work and 17 miles back home everyday. He also happens to be marathon runner for Sri Lanka.

I've been thinking about doing this its 12 miles. Ive been thinking about doing a half marathon though as ive never ran furthur than 10k. I'd thought about home to see if its achievable, would have to be home though as we dont have showers at work. I get round this when cycling by going for a swim at the pool near work, i dont fancy a swim after a 12 mile run though.

Should only take 20 minuts or so, but run, don't jog. Running is easier, quicker and less stress on the joints, IMO.
Plus then you won't have to wear a shell suit and headband and grow a 70's pornstar moustache.

I did this when I was a student over a similar distance. The nature of the route (crossing Cardiff city-centre) and my fitness at the time meant that running wasn't too different to cycling time-wise. If you have showers at work then you should be sorted.
