My biggest fear is that should I crash, burn and die, my Wife would sell my stuff based upon what I told her I paid for it.

Not much between the spec although the Giant has a better groupset in Ultegra. More importantly what fits and feels right assuming you've tried both for size as this has to be your deciding factor. If you can't separate on fit and feel then which appeals more to the eye as you have to live with it.
Still can't decide? Then the spec might be what swings it. Both good bikes.Trek Madone 5.9

Cheers for the comments guys, they both felt nice, but the matt black giant looked uber sleek and sexy!My biggest fear is that should I crash, burn and die, my Wife would sell my stuff based upon what I told her I paid for it.0 -
Bought the 2012 Defy 0 this afternoon in the end after lots of deliberating, what a bike, it flies and stops like a beast. Effectively the best road bike for under £1k (defy 1 according to most reviews) but ugraded to ultegra groupset and dropped in price to £900.
Lovely, cant wait to give it a proper blast at the weekend. My biggest fear is that should I crash, burn and die, my Wife would sell my stuff based upon what I told her I paid for it.0 -

And I bought the Large from Pedalon that very evening... Great bike, can't fault it. Imported from Netherlands I think.0
