Looking for a new hardtail, cant decide what to get, looked at a few bikes(Felt Q720, Spesh Rockhopper Comp, Scott Scale 80 to name a few) but they have been around 600-700 and have more to spend. Any help would be much appreciated??

At the price point of those you have looked at - go see the Boardman bikes - they will trample all over the ones you list.
Not sure what is better for under £900 to be honest...0 -
Whyte bikes - particularly if you are not sold on 29ers (901) is selling at around your budget.0

It's going to be used to a bit of everything to be honest, something I can use for off road and day to day use if needed too. I've been looking at the focus and boardman comp they both look pretty good, also come across the Spesh Carve Comp 29er which looks decent, theres so much to choose from but seems like for that money everytime you find a nice set up the fork will be poor and vice versa0

The £500 Rockrider 8.1 is better specced!0 -
yeah that one is the one I was looking at, I had a go at a local store and it felt really nice0

The Carve is hardly like for like with the Rockrider given they have completely different wheel sizes.....If you want a 29er then the Carve would be OK, if you want a 26er probably better off with the Rockrider!Closet jockey wheel pimp whore.0

I'm kinda new to all this and am going from a Carrera Vulcan so I was comparing the carve to what I have now, its the only other bike I've ridden since looking for something new, theres not really many stores around my way that let you try things out so thats really the main reason I stated the bikes I did in the OP as they are all bikes there, I went to www.tredz.co.uk which is my local store0
