Trying to find a road bike for my son with a budget of about £250, and am struggling. Took him to a bike shop to get him measured up, and they have recommended that I look for a cycle with 650c wheels as he has 27" legs. This is where I'm stuck. I cant find any on the web, so can anybody recommend any bikes or websites. All I can find for youths are 24" wheels, which I presume he will out grow very quickly.

Any advice welcome.

The lowest price seems to be the FrenchDecathlon Triban 3 jnr but I dont think UK stores sell. Maybe worth a day trip to France. All the other 650C and 26"(MTB) youth road bikes start closer to £500.

Cheers Micheal. Thats what I thought about prices. Not really wanting to spend that much as he might not like it. Have seen a secondhand handmade Dawes youth/junior cycle which has been restored, 26" wheels. Would this be an equivalent size to a 650c wheel?

Equivalent but not identical, possibly more practical and widely available. You can get 1" MTB 26" slick tyres which are about 28mm.

They are available in UK store if you're interested.
