front derailer

if i only have a single chain ring up front will leaving on front derailer help with keeping chain on :?:

    Yup. Though a specific device is somewhat better.

    A front works fine, even better if you drop it down about 1cm so it's either side of the chainring, if you're using a bash an N-gear jump stop works well with one.
    Currently riding a Whyte T130C, X0 drivetrain, Magura Trail brakes converted to mixed wheel size (homebuilt wheels) with 140mm Fox 34 Rhythm and RP23 suspension. 12.2Kg.
