I am looking to upgrade my groupset because at the moment my bike only has shimano 2700 which I think is the worst shimano road groupset but I could be wrong. I am wanting to get campagnolo centaur but I would just like to know what people think of centaur and if the change from the standard centaur to the carbon version is worth it. Any other information advice and recommendations would be appreciated.

Thanks

Well, apart from the obvious bonus of moving from Shimano to Campag....
Centaur will be a good move up. Have you tried out both brake hoods?
Some folk find one brand fits their hands better.
If you like Shimano, have you thought of 105?

As for Centaur, I've only ever used the carbon chainset and levers and haven't had any issues.

When you say 'groupset' are you talking about all of shifters, derailleurs, crank, casette, chain.....?
There are some compatability issues if you only change part of the set - shimano shifters aren't going work properly with a campag chainset (and vice versa) because the pull distance is different. Usually ok if you stay with Shimano or campag throughout. SRAM tends to be more swappable with Shimano, but not always.

If your existing setup is 2700 it might not be worthwhile upgrading the whole set. I went from Tiagra (4500) to 105 (5700) throughout and, although I enjoyed the experience, spent 80% of the original bike cost on the upgrade, even after a long time researching best deals (and fitting it all myself).

Yes I am talking about the full groupset and I know about the compatability but I would be replacing the groupset and then I would have to buy a pair of wheels compatible with campagnolo.
