Hi,

I'd like a decent pair of padded shorts but have no idea what I should be looking for. There seems to be hundreds of styles/brands out there. Do I go for normal shorts or bib style ? I don't want full on race branded but something with a bit of colour in them. I quite like the DHB Aeron Race, would these be a good starting pair ? At the moment I'm using some Endura padded boxers with 3/4 shorts :? I do have some Endura FS260 Pro bibnickers but there 3/4 style so to long for what I want and a bit boring in all black.

Thanks.

To bib or not? I strongly recommend bibs - takes any pressure of your waist which could otherwise irritate over time.

There are so many brands, styles, etc - as daunting as choosing wine! I tried some cheaper ones and they weren't very comfortable. I tried Assos which for me were perfect and all the shorts I have bought since have been Assos. Totally recommend them.

Agree about the Assos. Started wearing them 5years ago and never looked back. Expensive, yes but totally worth it and durable as well.

The endura fs260 pros are arguably among the best (if not the best) in the price range. The DHB Aeron Pro's are nice too.

But if the enduras are comfy then stick to what you know!

Just tried out my new pair of Sugoi RS bibs on a hot sweaty ride from Stow on the Wold to Cleeve Hill and back today.
They did much better than me up Cleeve Hill...

They were excellent. I also bought a pair of Castelli Prestos from PBK recently. The Sugoi's have a better chamois - and the Castelli's have a good chamois.
