update Shimano Acera X gears

Hey everyone, I'm new here and looking for some advice.

My gt aggressor xc3 has Shimano Acera X gear set, its fine on easy flat rides, but terrible under any kind of pressure.

Can I replace my Shimano Acera X derailleur with an Sram 8 speed for example?

The bike has 24 gears currently.

I dont want to spend too much.

I would much appreciate your advice

This has probably nothing to do with the derailer unless it or the hanger is bent. And to be honest, you need to ease off when changing - a SRAM will make no difference.

Check the cogs and chain are not worn.

You'd also need a new shifter with Sram, so doubly not worth it.
