Brake Calipers Locking Up

I've had my Felt Z6 for just over 6 months and the last 2 times i've been out on it i've found that whenever the rear brake caliper is engaged it tightens over the wheel as expected, however when i release it the caliper does not expand, just continues to rub on the wheel rim making pedaling significantly harder obviously.

What do i need to do to fix this?

Many thanks

Could be dirty/sticky cable or dirty/sticky caliper... lack of maintenance in both cases.
Check the caliper first... wash it thoroughly and lube slightly the moving parts with oil... if the problem remains, get someone to change the cable, inner and outer

  • I have the same problem on my bike. The cause for me is the last stretch of cable outer from the frame to the calliper is slightly too long which makes it press against the calliper arm preventing it from moving back to the released position. The thing is its just about ok if the adjuster is all the way in but if I move it out a bit the spring force from the cable outer overcomes that of the calliper can causes problems.

One of these days I'll get round to fixing it.

Lubricated it, now running smooth as ever. Cheers!
