Bottom bracket replacement

My bottom bracket has started creaking terribly under pressure. Specialized Allez triple.
It's described as having a "Cr-Mo axle" same as http://road-bikes.findthebest.com/l/262 ... lez-Triple
Any suggestions as to what I'd need to order to replace? Google isn't providing many answers.
Thanks

Tool:

BB:

Chain off
Loosen right side bolts on crank arm. Use tool to take special bolt off the crank arm. Remove right side arm. Tap through crankset.
Use main part of tool to remove BB, add new BB and reverse.
Excuse my lack of technical language0 -
I think it's this? Wait for someone else to confirm though!

just checked and a shimano 2300 chainset is a square taper.......
so an internal bb??
could be wrong0 -
Erm, the specs say a shimano 2300 triple crankset so i'd go with:
http://www.winstanleysbikes.co.uk/produ ... om_Bracket
The 68mm x 113mm variant

iPete, the specs on the triple allez are different.0 -
I could also be wrong, can you snap a picture of the bike in that area?
My 2010 sora Allez has external cups.0 -

Thanks, my bike is a few years old but that looks a likely contender.
Will try to extract it tonight & clean what I can(which appears to be not much) to see whether I can at least reduce the creaking.FCN 9 || FCN 50 -
& that helped me track down

which looks very familiar. Been looking to replace my chain rings too. Cheapest option may be to just buy the replacement chainset instead..FCN 9 || FCN 50 -
Good luck. I broke a crank tool trying to get my BB off, bought another one, fared no better and gave up, but the creaking is beginning to get to me.0

Just replaced mine on a 2004 Allez Triple.
Mine needed the ES51 Octalink Cartridge BB (68mm x 118). Getting the chainset off required adding a 8mm nut and bolt threaded about half way in order to allow the crank extractor to engage and push the crank off. I ended up plumming for the 105 variant as have been upgrading the groupset gradually as and when I can get the parts 2nd hand (less BB). All I now need are 5500 changers.Allez Triple (hairy with mudguards) - FCN 4

Replaced my bottom bracket
Definitely needed replacing, the old one has lost all smoothness.
Slight annoyance now, in that it turns out my bottom bracket was 68, 116 so the new one is 3 mms (68, 113) shorter. Not much but mean my gears are out of alignment & the adjustment screws won't fix. My bad for not checking before ordering
So, next question. My front derailleur needs to be repositioned as I very badly adjusted it once. Thoughts on whether I'll be able to align it to my new width, or should I just order another new bottom bracket now?FCN 9 || FCN 50 -
Get the right bottom bracket. They're not expensive and you should be able to shift the other one on here/ebay to get some money back. Shame you fitted it as otherwise you'd likely have been able to swap it for the right one.FCN3: Titanium Qoroz.0

Yeah, there was quite a bit of muck on the old bracket until I looked carefully & rubbed hard - a quick look & it appears the right size (which it was near enough)FCN 9 || FCN 50 -
Too late now, but Rose Bikes have Tiagra triples for <£50,
http://www.rosebikes.co.uk/article/shimano-tiagra-crankset-fc-4603/aid:519972
bottom bracket to match:
http://www.rosebikes.co.uk/article/shimano-tiagra-bottom-bracket-cups-sm-bb4600/aid:522246
plus delivery, and tools, and the BB shell faced, and...
Still seems a bargain though.0 -
Does look like a bargain. However thinking about moving to a powermeter double crank at some soonish point in the future so trying to keep things working until then cheaply.FCN 9 || FCN 50
