HI,

After having had a budget GT agressor 2 mountain bike for the last 8 years, which has served me well I thought it might be time to upgrade and treat myself to a new one.

Now as I now very little about Moutain Bikes I was hoping that the more knowledgable people on this forum might be able to steer me in the right direction.

I have a budget of approx £700 which I know isn't a massive amount for a Mountain bike but for my needs should be plenty.

I have a list of ones ive been looking at which I would apprciate your views on or alternatively provide me with some other options.

Now being a Yorkshireman who are renound for being careful with there cash I was leaning towards the Diamondback as it has the most money off but as I don' know much about bikes is it any good ?

Thanks in advance for your advice guys

That Orange is pretty good value. It's not often you can say that about an Orange!

Save yerself the money and buy the cheaper on - the new model (albeit not quite as well specced as the bike-discount version is only 799 Euros, which is what? £650 right now? Bargain....

  • Thank for the replys folks. So are you saying avoid the Diamondback then ?

How do the specs of the bikes i've picked compare to say the Radon 6 ?

Will there be much to assemble on the Radon if and when it comes ?

Front wheel on, attach handlebars to stem, saddle to seat post then seat post to bike, screw pedals on.

Nothing a monkey with an allen key set couldn't handle.
  • i built mine in the carpark at lunch time with 2 allen keys and a 15mm spanner

I bought the Radon Team 6.0 a few weeks ago when it was Bike-Discounts daily deal for 699 Euros (£541). It was delivered a week later with delivery and foreign exchange transaction on my credit card it came to £605 ish.

Very simple to assemble and I am very pleased with the bike - you wont find reba forks on anything else in this price bracket. One thing to note is that the brake levers control the wrong wheels - I will need to address this in due course but I've not managed to find time just yet.
  • i like them on the wrong hand tbh

Fixing the brakes is a 5 minute job. Carefully unscrew the hoses from the levers and switch over. As long as you do it carefully, and dont pull the levers/wave the hoses around, you should get minimal oil leakage. The Radons are great value... would love to ride one to see what its like. Maybe I will get my hands on one soon. The Slide looks like fun!

  • Not sure i'm confident enough to try and sort the brakes out myself though.

I have also been looking at a 2011 Cude Acid. Does anyone have any opinions on these ?

There's one in a bike shop near me for £660

Does it come close to the Radon Bikes ?

You might as well give it a go. Worst case scenario is you lose a bit of fluid and you have to take it to a shop (which you will be doing anyway if you don't tackle it yourself).
  • That was the nice thing about the radon 7.0 the formula Rx are flip flop so you just unbolt the brake lever from the bar and swap sides, two minute job.
I left them the way they came though as I don't mind riding like that.
