Have about £40 to play with for a Road multi tool. Any suggestions as to what works well?

  • I have a Topeak Alien 2. Its a great tool which has got me out of trouble a few times now.

What pieces have you had to attend to ever in the history of bike ownership whilst out and about?

You need a multi-tool with these tools on it, best quality you can afford as it will be the only one you ever buy :D

Me, one allen key for when the bottle holder comes loose, still carry all tools though, added a small pair of pliers in case tube valve comes undone but it is only ever the bottle holder!

    Buy a Crank Brothers 19 like this http://www.wiggle.co.uk/crank-brothers- ... ulti-tool/
And, save yourself £17.50. Easily the best and most robust multi tool I have ever used, check the reviews on that link.

I have had a few of the premium ones (which I've lost)... picked up one of these:

Seems good quality and as good as the Crank Brothers and Topeak ones I've owned before, but it was £10 rather than £20,

I have the Crank Bros one. I like the fact it's in the smooth metal container; less chance of it wearing a hole in the spare tube while in the seat pack.

Only ever used it on the road to adjust the saddle a couple of times.
Once used it to help a passing cyclist fettle his brakes as I was leaving the end of my drive

Crank Bros ones are good - so are Lezyne tools.
