cheapest rear disc brake for giant mph based

Can anyone recomend the cheapest set of disc brakes (rear only) to replace a giant mph rear disc brake from a 2004 giant xtc 4?
I need to test ride to work and its too dangerous without rear brake, but if successful I will probably get a new bike you see. The current brake just wont bleed, I have the rotor which seems fine, so I guess I dont need that? But I dont know what will fit.
Any help appreciated, thought to buy from wiggle or maybe its just not worth it if too costly?

Anything that fits your budget. However, if your front brake works, and you're planning on getting another bike soon anyway, just use that - it's the one that does all the "heavy lifting" anyway.0

Thanks, maybe its best just to ride slowly and take a bit more care and just use the front brake.0

Could just get something cheap (used) off fleabay.....Currently riding a Whyte T130C, X0 drivetrain, Magura Trail brakes converted to mixed wheel size (homebuilt wheels) with 140mm Fox 34 Rhythm and RP23 suspension. 12.2Kg.0

But to use it properly you need to balance it with the back, but I see your point.0

Rear brake has it's uses, but it's not needed for riding to work. In fact, it's uses are so specialist that it can safely be ignored almost all of the time, on or off road.0 -
i only run one brake on my singlespeed school run bike and have been fine with it, only issues ever been signalling to turn Right at the mini roundabout and trying to slow, otherwise, its fine,
if you Need a new brake then look in CRC sale, they had some clarks skeletal on cheap, failing that, the clarks cable rear disc caliper is sub £20Timmo.

Thanks, late reply sorry. Which is the best £40 set on this page: http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Offe ... oryIDs=113 as I cant use my lever as its half the problem.0 -
Go for the Shimano one, clarks look good but Don't get the reviews!Timmo.

It does come in handy when you're simultaneously braking and signalling right though. In fact, on my favourite road route it gets more than half of the braking that's done outside of my driveway because there's one right turn at the bottom of a long downhill stretch. Also very handy for sharp turns and tightening the line on loose surfaces, although I'm not sure if that counts as "specialist"Specialized Roubaix Elite 2015

Not sure what bracket I need to buy to fit it to the bike though? My frame looks like the attached.
I am buying these: http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Mode ... elID=83998
But not sure what adaptor piece to get? Although maybe it already has one on. Bit hard to tell as I know very little about bikes.0 -
Looks like you have a 160mm IS mount on the rear of the bike.
Is the brake rotor 160mm in diameter?0 -
Yes its 160mm.I have now bought the brakes but obviously want the adaptor if I need one.
Maybe need this? http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Mode ... elID=60899
I guess I should have bought one with an IS mount? I think I might cancel and get these:

Otherwise Im paying £50 anyway getting an adaptor? Basically very confused as looking at the above, although it says IS mount it doesnt look like it would fit on looking at the images.0 -
I'd stick with the shimano and grab an adapter, there only a few quid, crc, wiggle, superstar all do them cheaply too, a Lot easier to centre too!Timmo.

Almost all brakes are now post-mount, and depend on an adapter to fit them to the bike or forks.0 -
