Fist waving van driver...

On my ride in this morning, as I'm stopped near the centre line waiting to turn right across the oncoming traffic, a bloke in a van blasts the horn as he approaches on the other side of the road. Naturally I assume this is van v cyclist unwarranted aggression, expecially as he waves his fist at me as he goes past. Hang on though, he's smiling at me and shouting 'Wiggins!' :o

Excellent. Let's hope the amazing performance of the British riders in the Tour will make a difference to the way people treat us on the road. On my long ride on Saturday, I didn't experience any hostile driving, and it did seem that drivers were giving me more space and waiting for a safe moment before overtaking. Might be my imagination, but it did feel like people were being just a bit more considerate than usual.

Chapeau Wiggins, Cavendish, Froome, Team Sky, and Miller - what an incredible Tour!

Yeah I've had moments like that when people have come past with their horns blasting or peds gesturing from the pavement and I'm just about ready with the middle finger when I realise they're actually shouting "allez, allez.." or something similar...!

Luckily Wiggins won then, otherwise it could've been...

Had someone shout 'alright Bradley Wiggins' at me last week in Victoria Park. It sounded quite friendly so I assumed it was a light-hearted comment and not a "you're going too fast, who do you think you are?" type comment.

Best I had was a 'Lance Armstrong' at least now they might start yelling British cyclists names at me instead.
I used to just ride my bike to work but now I find myself going out looking for bigger and bigger hills.
