Cycle glasses, recommend me some please.

Long ish story which I will try to shorten.
For the last three years I have been wearing a cheap pair of cycle glasses purchased from Aldi for a fiver. They have done bloody well but I have now lost the rubber pad from one arm and one of the nose pieces keeps trying to make a break for freedom.
I treated myself to a pair of Tifosi Pave glasses for £60. After just two rides totalling 46 miles they are screwed A pin which locates the bridge and nose piece gave out meaning my new glasses got spread up the road.
I am taking them back to my LBS today to get a refund.
Can anyone recommend a decent pair of sunnies that will last more than 46 miles for roughly the same outlay please.
At the moment I am inclined to go back to Aldi and see what they have.
Cheers

Cycling Plus has a review this month and Salice ones are the best buy for that sort of money.
I too had £5 Aldi specials and the nose piece fell off after 2 weeks so not VFM. I now have Oakley Straight Jackets and am V Happy.
Cheap stuff is false economy I have found to my cost.Yellow is the new Black.0 -
Kontrol Sports glasses are pretty good value/quality - I have several pairs with a prescription insert and they're easily a match for "brands" costing far more.

Bloc's are great and good value. Best glasses I've ever brought.0

I have some Bole Contours and I think they're great. I prefer them to my Oakley Jawbones. The problem with the Jawbones and all other sunglasses of similar design is that the frame messes up peripheral vision. I raced in the Jawbones once, but never again. Obviously some folk don't mind, but they're not for me. Tried on some Oakley Radars the other day and they look like posh Countours to me - more refined and greater choice of colours, but several times the price (unless you go for Choakleys).More problems but still living....0

I use these and find them great.
It helps mine were issued being in the RAF. If they are good enough for the MOD then they're good enough for me.
Other than that i do have some cheap Aldi glasses.0 -
Beware the multi lense type in cold weather flexing the frame to change the lense when the glasses are cold it can result in a break :!:
These I like http://www.farnhamcycles.co.uk/Shop/p/3 ... ator-x311/
the only gripe I have is that in the sun the white has gone slightly off.0 -
Just a quick question for you guys I wear prescription glasses am I better getting contact lenses for riding and buying normal sunglasses or look for prescription sunglasses?0

Depends on your prescription I'd say. I would set up an account on www.rxsports.co.uk, enter in your prescription details and the website then blocks out what can't be 'supplied'.
That will then give you a clearer idea as to contacts vs sunnies.
Your prescription should be less than 2 years 'old' and dependant on that, will determine if the glasses will be directly glazed (like normal) or a clip in insert behind the main lens

Rudy project rydons impact x. Slightly pricey but bomb proof and photochromatic lens. Another plus point is there lack of bulk, very unobtrusive and hardly noticable when riding. Well worth the inflated price compared to Oakley.0

I like the look of the expensive Oakleys, Rudy etc but I know that I'd drop them or sit on them or something so just buy some cheapo ones online. Got some nice ones from Pro bike kit for £16 the other week. Sorted0

I bought a pair of Rudy Project Rydon impactx glasses and they are very good, wear them on all rides now and the reactive lenses work really well, hardly notice you are wearing glasses as they are very light with fully adjustable arms/nose piece - quite suprising when you take them off just how dark the lenses go without you noticing whilst riding.
If you shop round you can get them for around £110 new0 -
I've got a set of ProRace ones off Planet X, very comfortable and reactive lenses seems to work well. Think they are £45.0

Oakley Jawbones... the only way to go! (although I do worry that jawbones are 2011 and to be cool in 2012 you need neon coloured Rudy's!)0
-
Adidas Evil eye for me. Can wear them with the insert on lazy days when out for only a 2/3 hours and also when I have a longer ride say 4+hrs by taking the optical clip out and wearing contacts.
Have had them for years and they are lasting well, the only negative is the anti fog coating on the lenses no longer functions as it should stopping is a problem at lights and even worse when the clip steams up as well...0 -

Another vote for Maui Jims wonderfully light and the way the lens is coated they effectively 'squint' for you. Downside - price.Big Red, Blue, Pete, Bill & Doug0

Aldi, been using them for a month with no probs!! come with case, cloth & 3 sets of lenses. They were less than a fiver! Their under-seat pouch/bag is also superb in both function & quality, even comes with a neat little tool kit for a fiver!B'TWIN Triban 5A

The Tifosi Podium's are very highly rated, and reasonably priced at £600

That may be but you could well need new reading glasses as two people on here have already stated how poor the Aldi ones areYellow is the new Black.0
