Silly commuting Wiggo tributes

So we were driving back from friends yesterday afternoon, listening to the end of the stage and aiming to get home for the final sprint. It was really tight as we got into the drive and my 9-year old bolts out of the car to turn the telly on. It just fires up in-time to see Cav cross the line. Magic. And the kids are pestering their Mum to take them out for a bike ride today.

Anyway, felt more than a little inspired by Brad this morning and was a full 55 secs inside my PB for my commute at 8 miles before I got waylaid by some bad traffic light timing and finished 2 secs outside my PB.

Anyone else feeling particularly fast this morning?

Absolutely, 20mph+ average until I hit Parliment Square this morning...

It was an awesome display from the whole team and to finish it off with Cav winning in Paris was quite remarkable.

I've got a ss yellow yersey that I rarely wear. I almost wore it this morning with Sky bibs. But I didn't, because I'm not quick enough and it'd look like I was trying too hard :D

Clocked one of my fastest times this year, at one stage I was 4 mins inside 'normal time' ...... Wiggo inspired? probably :) Although there was a lot less traffic this morning.
  • After a hard ride yesterday I took it easy on the way in today and waved to the crowds while sipping a glass of champers.

I got my 2010 (notice I have been on the band wagon since the start) Team Sky Jersey to wear on the way home tonight!:lol:

I'm also thinking of getting the Stomach of Anger T-shirt (as well as the Jens Voight one).

I expect Halfords will be doing a roaring trade over the next few weeks.

You can't wear team/polkadot/WC jerseys - people will think you're in the TdF and, err, um..... :?:wink::wink:

I'd have liked to do a Wiggo tribute but in this morning's gale-force winds, I contented myself with emulating his high-cadence, seated climbing style 8)

Sadly, I'm more Biggins than Wiggins. But I did notice an increase in cyclists this morning.

I was all for going all out this AM. Until I looked outside at the monsoon. My ride was wet, windy, cold and unpleasant

  • I already had the sideburns, but they will be coming off tonight.
I'm getting too many 'jokey' comments from people in the office (and a couple from random people at traffic lights this morning).

As an overweight middle-aged bloke I felt it my duty to wear my bright yellow top this morning. The appreciative stares I received were a clear indication that people knew of my awesomeness and approved.

I rode my bike in this morning, first time in a while. I also used my Sky waterbottle that I found.

Anyone else notice any improvement in car drivers behaviour? The car drivers seemed loads better, trucks and buses, not so much.

We should all grow Wiggo's bugger grips. In homage

    Me too!

    Just checked my email history:
    From: info@racix.com

    Racix
    Order Number: 87
Date Ordered: Tuesday 20 April, 2010

So looks like I was one of the first 100 people to order a Team Sky jersey. Maybe. I'm claiming it, anyway. ;)

This belongs here not in it's own thread:

    Three personal bests today.
Max speed 47.3mph (76kph for the purists)
    10miles at 21mph average
    20k in 40m:45s
All down hill with a tailwind but you've got to make the best of it.

    Must be the Wiggo Effect!
I used to just ride my bike to work but now I find myself going out looking for bigger and bigger hills.

I was contemplating taking a bottle of Cava to the start of the Sunday club run. Didn't, then wishes I did.

    I like it! :D

I think the weather's helped get more people out on the roads too. Be interesting to see what happens when summer goes back into hiding....

How long does a good set of buggers grips take to grow?

I propose that instead of Movember, this year we promote Side-ember :-D
