So "Sky" did it! I went out for a quick ride the celebrate, expecting to see throngs of other like minded cyclists? No. Now I think Wiggins can best be described as humble, down-to-earth and approachable? Now I live in Leicester and I know that has a reputation as being ignorant in general but does this have to apply to the cyclists aswell? I don't care if it's an old lady on a bike with a dog in a basket, a kid doing his paperound or another cyclist who perhaps doesn't have this years full carbon model (me) we are surely all on bikes? So don't turn your nose up if someone says hello or a teenager in a hoody shows an interest in your bike (not all of them want to steal it) take the time to be human about it. Club riders? I assume you want people to join your club to keep your club going? So don't act so superior when a mere mortal who may not earn enough to buy a 2k bike and feel the need to criticise that persons bike or attire? Remember back to when you road just for fun, not to cycle through Bradgate Park (even if it's a bank holiday and rammed) just to be seen? Keep your negative, know it all opinion to yourself and just smile and ride. If the winner of the Tour De France doesn't act that way, why would you?

I went out for a ride this morning and there seemed to be a lot of ignorant people around.

New to road cycling and got into people nodding or smiling as they went the other way, no such thing today.

I always wave/nod/smile because I'm polite, some people do the same back, some people don't pay attention, doesn't bother me either way, if they want to be up themselves crack on

nah, i have to agree with the OP

i do all my training on a steel raleigh thats about 30 years old, say hello to just about everyone, and everyone just ignores you ( apart from either large gentlemen or mid 70' s elder gentlemen....and if im doing average 20 on a mountain bike....man they virtually spit on you ....

now switch to a custom race frame ( my weekend wood maker) , and just about everyone says hi....

Maybe if they dont say hi, you need a better bike ?

    sort of this haha ^^

Although ftr, I went out yesterday and definitely noticed more people nodding back and saying hello, no more people than normal I'd say but the people that I did see we're certainly in a better mood - but then again that could have had more to do with the weather than anything else :?:

    WTF ?!!?!?!

Let me get this right. You went out for a ride, no one said hello, so you thought you'd join BR and in your first post p*ss and whine that the rest of us don't say hello. Nice one

When I was big into motorcycling, the national press would perpetually run rants and letters of 'bikers' not nodding to each other, or even aknowledging a fellow 'biker'...........so what :!:

I always look across if I see another cyclist, irrespective of age, equipment, gender, race, clothing attire etc etc. If we make eye contact I nod. Not bothered if they nod back, but I'm just a polite person. If we don't, then in an instant the moment has passed, and I've got bigger things to worry about anyways :!:

I'm sure you'll get over it..........

Ah, Bradgate Park! I spent many a happy day there in my youth with my cousins... Haven't thought about it for years... Old John... All the trees with there tops cut off after the beheading of Lady Jane Grey...
