Total Pages Per Stage
And then, average pages per stage type
More to come as I think of them.
Note, we seem to hold sprint stages and TT's in equal contempt
Is it contempt or is it just a lack of appreciation among some that cycling is about more than the ability to cycle up a mountain.0 -
You're not a True Champion™ until you can persistently attack in the mountains and master a questionable celebration.0

I know Iain's graphs are good, but that's a pretty sweeping conclusion.
Maybe you fail to appreciate that only the mountain stages were shown in their entirety, so twice as
much time to post, during the action.
It is handy to be able to pedal uphill fast, though, if you want to win something like the Tour."Science is a tool for cheaters". An anonymous French PE teacher.0 -
Clearly I should have put some sort of smiley in that to show I wasn't being entirely serious.0

How about documenting the spooky side of the Tour. Claimed sightings of Haimar Zubeldia, dogs possessed, and the uncountable expressions of Thomas Voeckler.0

Some great graphs and charts on here. Ian's remind me of the colours you get in colour sight tests.
Rich's ups and downs tells a story, particularly the changing of the guard.
I hate the rise of WAG-ism in cycling. Makes it all a bit Stamford Bridge.0 -

Could we have some analysis of the number of stages where in the closing stages Phil or Paul confidently predicted the winner, only for something completely different to happen?0

What is this graphic? Tour prize money?

FF, yes thats right. Apparently Peter Sagan would be third on that list.0

that's not true. Tickers etc. were available full stage and Eurosport had TV coverage from very early. I think it's probably more due to the fact that there's generally less to talk about in a TT than a road stage. TT's only really get going when the GC contenders ride.0 -
I'd like to see a graph comparing the number of people who said that Wiggins had peaked too soon for the tour, and the number of those that came back later and said they got it totally wrong0

What about adjusting for Friday stages where many people knock off early, weekend ones... and of course you can't tell anything anyway cos pages and pages come out of one or two daft comments here and there, something that the commentators said, links to other news that gets discussed, accidents on the road, where the standings sit on a particular day, people who've picked someone for PTP that relates to that, tacks on the road, I dunno....
There's gotta be some correlation to the types of stage.... but take TT's being low, people can hardly regurgitate all the info off ticker feeds and get all over excited when a break goes 30seconds up the road, so with a TT there's bound to be less posts, there's no real dynamic happening on the road to watch to then talk about.0
