Pro Team Kit. Yes or No

Haven't read the thread so the answer might already have been given, which is of course:
Modern (last 5 years) team kit = chipper spactard
Retro (>5 years) team kit = okay, but only if horribly GARISH0 -
Bought a local cycling top from a shop (Pinarello dealer) whilst on holiday in Italy - it's so unfashionable I think it's coolAll the gear, but no idea...0

Why??? How small is your manhood that you feel the need to prove to one person that you can ride a bike faster than them?0 -
I really cannot for the life of me understand why some people care so much about what others wear when out riding.
I am relatively new to road cycling, I'm not that fast yet, and I have 2 team jerseys. I paid for them, I like them and if I see fit to wear them, then I'll do it.
I certainly am not shaming the team by not being as fast as others, in fact I am supporting both them and cycling, by buying and wearing them.
Hopefully the people on here who are so against it, keep their opinions to themselves when out riding, and don't discourage or intimidate people who are only out trying to better themselves.0 -

About as small as anyone's who races bikes ... could you make a more ignorant comment. The competitive and ambitious part of mankind is the one driving us all forward you know ... I chase after most cars and buses for as long as I can for training's sake - is that also a sign of insecurity ?
And 20eyes you are absolutely right - people can do whatever they want for all I care which is the opinion most people have. They might not agree with it but the fact that someone is on the road burning some calories instead of petrol is already a great thing !0 -

A bit off topic but the most popular sport in the UK is.... Fishing. The most dangerous sport is.... Crown green bowling (most fatalities).
According to the department of culture, media and sport, swimming is the sport most participated in. Fishing is classed as an "activity" not a "sport"
Football however is the most popular spectator sport and the 5th most participated in.0 -

Yeah probably. The time for racing is when you have a number pinned on your back (NB NOT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES on your handlebars, sportifs).0 -
Wiggo turned up on our club ride saturday ( yellow top complete with bradburns )
Ooooofffff0 -
If I'd just spent several thousands of my hard earned pounds on a Pinarello in Sky or Movistar colours or something similar then I'd probably want to get matching kit. First of all though if I had money or such luxuries I'd prefer to spend it on club kit assuming it was up to standard. The only disability in life is a poor attitude.0

I'm waiting for my wc sky kit to come, can't wait to get it on, I think it looks really smart. Let's all laugh at me!0

I wear what I like and I don't give a flying f@ck what people might think and that includes anyone on here who thinks they are better as they race etc0

wear it , feel good, and be proud

I'm a bit of a traditionalist when it comes to not wearing yellow jerseys, world champ jerseys etc, but team kit is fine if that's your thing (although it's not mine personally), it's just a way of showing support/solidarity and I'm sure most of the genuine team members would have no problem with it. The royalties and extra advertising for the sponsors must ultimately help pay their wages after all!0

Pro kit?
never, you look like a tool0 -
I'd quite like teams to make a "Supporters Kit" - a toned down version of what the pros wear so that you can show your support without looking like you are playing dress up. Probably wouldn't go down too well with the sponsors though.2010 Cannondale CAAD9 Tiagra0

Oh, okay then. If you say so. :roll:0 -
I don't see what the problem is. Admittedly if you're going to wear a KOM or champions jersey then you're probably expected to part live up to it, but otherwise so what. A lot of folk don't like wearing high vis jerseys so team kit gives an opportunity to be seen without wearing flouro orange or yellow jerseys. There's enough danger on the roads these days despite all the precautions and if wearing something bright in team colours helps minimise the dangers by making some myopic driver see you, then I'm all for it. As for feeling the need to burn off whoever you see wearing team kit; how do you know they aren't on some long distance haul so maintaining a lower pace, or on a particular training regime or recovering from injury? Would you have the same tribal mentality when you see anyone wearing team rugby or football tops? I doubt it.I ride a bike. Doesn't make me green or a tree hugger. I drive a car too.0
