Hey

I got my new Canyon last week and thought I would share with you guys.

Currently selling by Giant Trance X on eBay and saying goodbye to XC and have ventured over to a FR/Enduro bike to do Enduro going forward, I am just not built for XC (16 stone)!

So here she is, fresh from Germany! 8)

Thanks for your kind comments. It took me what seemed an age to decide on white or black but I am happy with my decision. I was going to take a pic of it dirty this weekend but by the time I remembered I already had the hose spraying!

Anyway, I will post a "dirty" pic for you wierdo's out there who are into that kind of thing, but in the meantime here is a pic of what she looks like in the air...oh and me too! (not the best quality)

    Hi, thanks for the message!

    The frame is 18" M and I am 5ft 10". The bike weighs 14kg.

The bike is really good and will only be changing the handlebar and brakes in the next 12 months I think (the Avids are a bit too soft for me),

nice, with a side helping of nice.

how wide are the bars, are you going wider?

    Cheers!

The bars are 740mm, might got a bit wider but they aren't that bad, I am just looking at it more from a point of aesthetics...might go for a different coloured bar maybe a renthal...

  • Nice bike! I think about getting the same next spring but would rather take it on rough tours in the alps, going up and down. I just saw the pic of you on the jump and imagine that you also do some touring with it since you come from XC. How does the bike perform? Would you recommend it? I also come from an XC/AM bike but also have a downhill bike and would like to get something more fun for the afterwork run and the alps.

    Cheers
  • Needs a coil shock.

    pray tell why?

    +1!

If I could afford it, an air shock and forks would be going on my Torque!

Ok bit of a strange request here.

After falling in love with my bike last year when I bought it in July and doing my first gravity enduro event at Dyfi Dorest in Sept-12 I haven't been on the bike much.

In fact I was made redundant in Oct and I only ever went out on it once between then and Christmas.

Even though I got a new job very shortly afterwards my priorities changed somewhat and I also have a more intense job that requires me to travel overseas. With how early I need to be up on a Monday and the stuff I have to get done I have been unable to ride the bike. It has been in the garage since Christmas and not ridden for 6 months.

Part of me wants to take it out again BUT as I want to do gravity enduro there is a lot of travelling I need to do from where I am based and my friend who I rode with has not kept up his fitness and doesn't want to race anymore. If I can't go practicing on tracks and attending race weekends with my mate then I don't want to do it by myself.

Which brings me on to a decision I need to make as to whether I sell or not.

Does anyone have any idea what would be a fair price to advertise this bike as?

I bought it for £2,800 in July but has only been ridden every other weekend for 4 months before it got locked up in the garage. It is in good condition but has the usual wear and rub marks associated with any pre-owned bike.

Would love to hear your thoughts. Thanks in advance and apologies for the waffle!

  • Hi
I know this is quite old topic, but could someone tell me how this bike is climbing? Will it work for an all day enduro trip?
I'm looking for a all around bike. I used to have Giant Trance X5, so weight is not a problem, but I'm a bit scared of the FR geometry.

    Hey

I still have the bike and it works well in the Gravity Enduro races, better than my old Trance X4.

The front Talas and reverb seat post play a crucial role in this as without it the frame is slightly too aggressive for uphills.

It really is a decent bike and does what its meant too.

Don't worry about the geometry, you will adjust to it on climbs

The only thing that will really effect the climbing is the weight and the suspension design or if the shock has lockout

You don't have to race. You can just ride locally with your mate and built up your fitness
