Silly question really. With his World and particularly Olympic success and now the Tour all done with a little bit of Mod Rock'n'Roll Wiggos is great publicity for the sport in Britain.

And here's what the French are thinking of him http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/magazine-18899902

I like - "In many ways Wiggins fulfils the expectations in France of what an Englishman ought to be like. He's seen as stylish, slightly eccentric, gentlemanly, outspoken, and humorous"

After his rant the other day, gentlemanly????

They've filed that under outspoken, waiting for Cadel was the gentlemanly bit. He's all of the above, but not all at the same time, obvs ;)

    Resurrecting this.....

agree with the others, it's the 13 yo upwards that it becomes a struggle. We set our go ride club to cater for the kids whose parents belong to the club, but with the exception of me and one of the other coaches none of the kids who come to the club have parents that cycle. With Go Ride it does great at the away from road stuff (inc closed circuit road racing) and getting kids used to racing.

But we're not able to take kids out for rides on the road, most of the kids aren't allowed to cycle for any distance on the road by themselves (their parents won't let them) and the parents aren't capable/willing to take them out for a ride. This means when you get the step up at U14/U16 racing the kids struggle to last the distance, let alone be fit, fast or capable enough to compete and so get put off. We have no Hillingdon, Hog Hill, A N Other circuit for the kids to train on.

Kit also starts to come in to play and non cycling parents are less likely to invest in he hardware required unless their kid is clearly talented.

He was given a standing ovation by the press corps after the final TT. Apparently he is seen as a refreshing change from the bland media-coached winners of previous years.

He just launched the opening ceremony and another cyclist will carry the flag.

    British Cycling is fantastic. :D

    Glory days.
You only need two tools: WD40 and Duck Tape.
If it doesn't move and should, use the WD40.
If it shouldn't move and does, use the tape.

I don't have a philosophical problem with cm. I've been on them before, and took part in reclaim the streets stuff. But, they have the whole of London to cycle in and they choose to go to the olympic area at that time? Duh.
