Hey guys,

Looking for a new saddle as the one I have is killing my groin. I am interested in having the Specialized Saddle/Body Geometry fit but I cannot find a price anywhere... is it free? Or do I have to pay?

Thanks!

It's free. They just sit you on a gel pad that measures your sit bones so they know which width saddle to sell you. Takes about 30 seconds.

If you want a 155mm Romin Gel in white (measure your own site bones to check if width ok!) I have one to sell that I was going to put on Ebay. Personally I didnt find it that comfortable but saddles are totally personal preference, and know many people who do which is why I bought it in first place.

Cheers for the offer but I'm going off white on bikes. I get them dirty too quickly!

If you phone around I'm sure you'll find a local Specialized dealer with test saddles you can use before you commit. I paid a £50 deposit which is either returned if you don't like it or taken off the price of the saddle you end up buying.

Romin works very well for me, go for the Romin Evo if you don't fancy the wider nose.

Going in to receive a BodyGeometry Fit from your nearest local certified fit specialist is highly recommended. BodyGeometry fitting includes 3 distinct parts. 1st your fitter will conduct a persoanl interview that will cover your history in the sport. S/he will ask about your goals in cycling and how riding a bike fits into your life. S/he will also want to know about your injury history, not just from the bike, but from all parts of your life, athletic or not. Your fitter will also want to know what issues or concerns you are currrently having when pedaling.

After that is the Pre-Fit Assessment. This is a 20 step process in which the fitter will identify your strengths, limitations, flexibility and natural body stuctures. These physical assessments are what sets BodyGeometry Fit appart from many other fitters (or worse, no fitting at all!). Once the fitter has obtained your physical infomation, then s/he can make the appropriate support decisions when they perform the last part, the bike fitting.

The on-bike adjustments are made in two parts. First the side-view where the cleat, saddle, and handlebars are positioned according to what your body needs. Then the fitter will perform the "Z-plane" fitting that looks at your pedaling form from the front-view. The fitter will choose support to customize your shoes to fit the natural contours of your feet. This will provide you with proper hip/knee/foot alignment.

All said and done its a 2-4 hour process that may cost anywhere from $200-$400 depending on the dealer. The fitter should also offer you a follow up visit approximately one month after your inital fitting to make sure your body has adapted properly.

Hope that info is helpful--and that you're finding a comfortable saddle that works for you!
